Croatian Society of Medical Biochemists; Department of Laboratory Diagnostics, School of Medicine, University of Zagreb, University Hospital Center Zagreb and Dr. Andrija Štampar Institute of Public Health are organizers of the 2nd Croatian Predictive Medicine Symposium with International Participation as part of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Academy of Medical Sciences of Croatia; the title of the Symposium is: "The Role of Laboratory Medicine in Predictive Medicine: Oncology".
Predictive medicine is a new field of medicine that applies results of genetic and molecular testing and, based also on other medical information, allows recognition of the heightened risk for an individual to be affected by some diseases. The knowledge gained in the field of predictive medicine indicates the need for healthcare planning and health-oriented behavior of each individual in order to prevent disease.
The Symposium program has been composed to present current advances in predictive medicine, particularly the role of medical biochemistry and laboratory medicine. This novel field of interest will be presented by numerous eminent national and foreign participants in the context of clinical sciences, modern analytical technology, new methodological approaches, and medical diagnostic strategies.
We hope that the synergy of the scientific program and relaxed get-together during the Symposium will provide a successful guidepost and incentive for new activities focused on predictive medicine in Croatia where we wish you all a warm welcome.
